We can only speculate what’s really ‘happening’ in the movie, so anything anyone says about the plot of the movie before it comes out are obviously just guesses.
Personally, I don’t the think the movie is about suicide. M. Night Shyamalan is known for his strangely creative horror flicks, so I think that he’s come up with something that people wouldn’t be able to figure out so easily just by watching the trailer.
Its not aliens or anything like that…although I like how the marketing is so mysterious and you don’t know what it is.
Btw SPOILERS:
its about plants releasing neurotoxins into the air that make people commit suicide, in a last ditch attempt to get rid of nature’s prime enemy (humans) who are polluting and killing it, like an evolutionary step. The script is amazing and the movie looks fantastic as well.
this film wants to alert us “environmentally”…the earth is changing…mankind comes to thIS position every now and then (they start over…)and the”noise”is like an electromagnetic pulse tha earth egnites to erase the “evil”,the only disease of this planet;people…thats why they start commit suicide…
ou are probably right. Maybe M Night has a shot at a pulitzer prize or an oscar like some other people who talk so much on a fake, money making crisis designed to make humans the “enemy of earth” We should probably all stop breathing too so we can reach that zero % carbon output goal, that will be great (although I know a lot of trees that are going to be really mad) Anyway Good luck with all of that.
My review of “The Happening” zzzzzzz
We’ve seen this all before in much more exciting contexts of nature gone wild. For example, James Arness in THEM! or Alfred Hitchcock’s classic The Birds. The Happening is barely on par with The Giant Gila Monster. Beware! Nature will destroy us all! Geez Louise. I think I saw better and scarier plots on The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy.
Shyamalan, I think, has lost his creative edge and needs to get out of Hollywood.
